Gordon's gin was first produced in the Southwark area of London in 1769, so they have over 250 years of experience making gin!
It was developed by Alexander Gordon, a Londoner who was of scottish descent. He produced the "special dry gin" which differed from other gins at the time in that it didn't add any additional sugars. (This is what makes a gin "dry"). It is also triple distilled using wheat grain.
Whilst with most brands the recipe (which hasn't changed since 1769!) is a closely guarded secret, it is known that it contains juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root, liquorice, orris root, orange and lemon peel. The distillation process takes a total of 10 days from receiving the grain to a finished bottle.
In the UK, Gordon's is sold in a distinctive and iconic square faced green bottle, which was introduced in 1904. This isn't the standard bottle exported, but we do have this available at Gin Fling, as it truly is iconic of the brand!
It's probably one of the most well known brands in the world in popular culture. It is mentioned by name in the Vesper Cocktail (which was given to James Bond in the Casino Royale book), it was Ernest Hemingway's favourite gin (he went so far as to claim it could "fortify, mollify and cauterise practically all internal and external injuries"), and Katherine Hepburn pours Humphrey Bogart's entire crate into the river in the African Queen film.
An interesting fact is that the wild boar head, which is seen on all bottle labels and caps, refers to a legend in Clan (family) Gordon that a member of the Clan saved the King of Scotland from a wild boar whilst hunting.

Gordon's Sloe Gin with a 26% abv, available in 70cl. This is made by steeping wild sloe berries, before adding them to the classic gordon's gin. It's lower in alcohol content, and has a cassis sweetness to it. Great as an alternate g&t, on its own, and also versatile enough to be used in cocktails.
We also stock "ready to drink" cans, with both the original and pink gin - great for festivals, picnics, or to keep in the fridge for a quick after work gin and tonic!
